A Secret Garden

@ the Miami Beach Botanical Gardens
Not really a secret garden… But I’m an amateur blogger (and photographer for that matter!) so my headlines will stay short and simple.
Today CGlea and I took Lori out to lunch at the Buena Vista Bistro in Miami.
I had a great time and I owe thanks to www.furloughhouseswap.com for making this meetup possible! Lori’s pad, by the way, is adorable… as are her two pets, Atticus and Reagan… Love! Thanks again, Lori, for keeping CGlea and I out of the rain on Monday night – greatly appreciated!
After lunch, CGlea and I hit up Miami Beach and the Miami Beach Botanical Gardens:
A small but very cool collection of plants I will never see at home in Washington, D.C.

Welcome to Miami…
The Scene in the photo: The calm before the torrential downpour that occurred right when we got into Miami!
We headed straight to South Beach upon our arrival in Miami only to detour to the Lincoln Road area when the rain started.
Ducked into a coffee shop to cool off and then had dinner at a nice Italian place in the courtyard area.
Our waitress actually escorted us out the back of the restaurant (through the kitchen) to the garage where we parked and we STILL got soaking wet from being outside for less than a minute!
Right now we’re lounging at @loritodd’s, getting ready for the day. Taking Lori out to brunch somewhere nice and then seeing where the day takes us!
Hoping to get to the beach before it starts raining and to check out the botanical gardens!
Leaving the Keys
Nice clouds.
Key Largo Conch House
At the suggestion of @lesliepassante, CGlea and I stopped at this great little coffee shop in Key Largo on the drive from Key West to Miami. This, by the way, is where I did the majority of my blogging today since I got so behind after a full day of water sports + Key West nightlife…
Love the free wi-fi + tropical drinks @ Key Largo Conch House! Highly recommend for anyone who drives through the Keys!
The drive through the Keys was much better during the day (as opposed to driving it at 3 in the morning!) Really cool to be completely surrounded by crystal-clear blue water. Amazing views too.
Just got to Miami and am updating from a pit stop in the Lincoln Road area. Cool place.

…Love!
Hemingway’s Home
We checked out Ernest Hemingway’s Key West home this morning before leaving Key West. A really amazing property set on an acre of land a block from the beach and lighthouse.
Highlights:
- Seeing about twenty different cats on the property (many were polydactyl, meaning that they have extra toes) Love!
- Learning about the mysterious life of Ernest Hemingway and how his life was reflected in his writing
I’ve only read one of Hemingway’s books, but now that I know some background on him and his works, I think I want to read Nobel Prize-winning novella “The Old Man and the Sea.” We shall see.
